We were recently contacted by a customer on Sydney’s Northern Beaches whose old gas hot water heater had caught fire! The situation was critical and our local hot water plumber was onsite within the hour.
Before calling us, the customer had managed to extinguish the fire but was, understandably, very concerned about it catching alight again. This was an extremely urgent hot water repair.

The importance of hot water service maintenance.
While the possibility of a hot water system catching fire is a very rare scenario, it highlights the importance of having it serviced regularly – at least every 5 years.

Obviously, this customer’s hot water system was beyond economical repair and needed to be replaced.
First, we safely dismantled the old hot water heater, ensuring it was disconnected safely from the gas supply. We then took it away for safe disposal and recycling.
The customer was happy with the storage capacity of the old hot water heater so decided to install one of a similar size.
