We received a call from the owner of a unit in Randwick whose existing instantaneous electric hot water system had stopped working. Within a few hours, one of our hot water system installers was onsite assessing the problem.
The current electric hot water system at the unit was extremely old and inefficient. After discussing the hot water usage with the customer, we recommended the installation of a new Stiebel Eltron Instant hot water system.
The size of the unit and the fact it didn’t have an internal laundry, meant the hot water system was located within a cupboard in the kitchen. The Stiebel instantaneous hot water system only requires a very small installation space so was the perfect replacement. This meant the transition over to the new system could be done quickly with little disturbance to the customer or damage to the property.
Job particulars
- Attend the unit in Randwick to replace the existing electric hot water system.
- Assess the site for safety and make appropriate arrangements.
- Isolate the electrical supply to the system and retest the system with an external device.
- Drain and remove the old electric HWS.
- Supply and install a new instantaneous, electric Stiebel Eltron electric hot water system in the same position.
- Install a new tempering valve to comply with AS3500 Plumbing code.
- Reconnect to existing power circuit.
- Adjust and reconnect to hot and cold pipework.
- Commission and test system.
- Disposal of and recycle the old hot water tank. Clean up the work area and dispose of any associated rubbish.
