Rheem solar hot water repairs Northern Beaches.
We received a call from a new customer at Newport on Sydney’s Northern Beaches whose Rheem solar hot water system tank (model 511270) had started leaking.
Once onsite, our Northern Beaches solar specialist, John, found that the leak was isolated to the hot water tank and, thankfully, all the other solar hot water system components were in good working order. Unfortunately, once a hot water storage tank starts leaking, it is typically beyond repair and requires replacement. Replacement parts are expensive and replacement is the most cost effective option.
Rheem solar hot water upgrade
Many households change over time and, in the case of this Newport customer, their hot water usage requirements were more demanding to when the original hot water system was installed. To this end, we suggsted the customer use this opportunity to upgrade to a larger Rheem 270 litre solar hot water storage tank (model 511270).
In making this recommendation, we take into consideration all household appliances such as washing machines and dishwashers, which can use as much hot water as one person. It’s also important to consider the changing needs of a family as small children grow into large teenagers.
Rheem solar hot water system installation
The new Rheem solar HWS was installed in the same location as the previous one. We were able to reconnect to the existing solar collectors, pump and ground kit giving the customer a considerable saving. The existing tempering valve was also working without a problem. When the previous tank had been installed, it’s orientation was not functional so we, while installing the new system, we spun the tank to the front. This will make accessing and servicing the system much easier in the future.

Save time and money by employing a local expert
Did you know that often the repair and installation of a hot water system requires the expertise and qualifications of both a licensed plumber and a licensed electrician?
We are qualified to undertake any plumbing and electrical work required to ensure your hot water heater is repaired quickly and within budget. Plumbers who do not specialise in the installation of hot water heaters may need to outsource the electrical work required to another tradesperson, thereby holding up your hot water system repair or installation, adding extra expense due to additional call out fees charged by employing two tradespeople.
Your hot water heater is an expensive appliance. Don’t risk voiding your warranty.
Additionally, most manufacturers won’t cover the terms of your hot water system warranty if it isn’t installed by a licensed hot water technician or qualified plumber. Hot water tanks are an expensive appliance so why would you risk voiding your warranty by installing it yourself or employing the services of someone who isn’t licensed?
