Fix faulty Dux electric hot water system.
We were called by a client recently whose Dux electric hot water system had stopped producing hot water. Within a few hours, we were onsite at the Coogee apartment to diagnose and repair the electric hot water system.
After running a series of diagnostic tests, Steve, our hot water specialist determined that the terminal block had burnt out. This had occurred because, when the Dux hot water system had been installed by the original plumber (not Cheapa Hot Water), the active and neutral were not tightened correctly into the terminal block. This had caused the terminal block to burn out.
We carried out further testing and, thankfully, all other parts were working correctly.
We replaced the terminal block with a new one and the hot water heater was back up and running again.
Unfortunately, we are often called to hot water heater repair jobs where problems have occurred because the system wasn’t installed by a qualified hot water specialist. Unfortunately, this usually voids the customer’s warranty. Hot water is our business and we are authorised to repair and install all electric, gas and solar hot water systems. - Attend site to diagnose and repair Dux electric hot water system not producing water.
- Assess the site for safety and take appropriate actions.
- Isolate the system at mains power. Re-test load at system with external device.
- Inspect & test the element for correct OMHS reading.
- Inspect & test the thermostat for continuity.
- Test the terminal block. Determine it was not set up correctly during installation.
- Install new terminal block.
- Re-commission the Dux hot water system.
- If load re-established, take a current reading.
- Clean up the site and remove any associated rubbish.
