- Check that the pilot light is not out. If the pilot light on your gas hot water heater is out, then the burner will not ignite, and you will not have hot water. You can relight the pilot light following the instructions in the owner’s manual or contact our friendly team for assistance.
- The thermocouple may be faulty. The thermocouple in gas hot water heaters is a safety device that detects whether the pilot light is on. If the thermocouple is faulty or even dirty, it may not be able to detect the pilot light and, therefore, the burner will not ignite. You may need to clean or replace the thermocouple. - The heater’s control valve could be malfunctioning. The control valve is responsible for regulating the gas flow to the burner.
